Some Absolutes: Very different from other course, you must never drag your feet over foreign language courses. Chances of succeeding in a foreign language course is dim if you prolong the process where the minimum time that you have to devote is 3 hours weekly and 15 minutes on a daily basis. Try and devote all the surplus time in learning the language but take care not to spend more than 45 minutes in any one session.

Foreign Language

Fork out your whole study material into several manageable units. Class Attendance is mandatory and necessary in order to pass the course particularly if you are serious about learning the language. You could revisit your learning off and on and check what your have learnt in the past, for example the vocabulary. Give below are some clues which can make your attempt to learn a foreign language as easy as ABC.

Perusing through printed matter: Try to comprehend what is written rather than worrying too much over unknown words. Glance through the text book chapters every day taking one small section at a time.

Start expressing: Do not feel shy of mistakes, simply listen to others and start to communicate yourself. You can have a good practice of the foreign language if you speak out loudly to yourself, to others in the same class or with your dog or cat at home.

Jotting it down: Go through the exercise of noting down things on paper till you no longer have to take any extra effort to do it.

Making yourself understood in a different language is a great feeling but don’t expect this ability to happen overnight. No matter how easy you find learning a new language is, you should not just take it for granted, because then you will just end up having a hard time. If you aim for speaking rocket french, there are plenty of options for you: several colleges and universities offer french language courses, which they believe, are very advantageous, which it is. There is no need for you to join a class with a large number of young people if you feel uncomfortable - just enroll in an adult language class. As per my understanding there are various crash courses, which are offered by school during summer breaks.

To make you able to speak french, some companies also offer crash courses in the language where you could also get a job, as soon as you finish your learning. In case you do not have any time, many bookshops sell dictionaries, which can also help you learn the language. There are also some self-help books where you’ll find a ready to use, complete french sentences with their English translations at the bottom. There is the ever so trusted Internet where you can find loads of free tutorials on Google or yahoo. Teaching your self how to pronounce a word or reading a language is not the end of learning, though speaking french should not be a problem since it is more based on phonetic. But, you can listen using Internet, too and there are webcasts and podcasts available and what’s great is that some sites will allow you to download it, all you have to do is just type your fingers away!

Yet it is far simpler to learn a language if you listen to it so do not depend too much on books as there are plenty of materials for you to listen and watch, like songs, movies and tele-novels. Looking at pictures is a great help, and when you learn a french word, you would ever forget its meaning if you know what it looks like. If money and time permits, take off and visit the land where the language is spoken by every one. If you already like their culture and country you should find speaking french an easier task

Do not tax your self too much while learning, as the more tensed you are the more frustrated you would get. When one is in a french speaking country, one cannot help but try to copy the accent and way of talking of the natives. You might sound outlandish but never mind, when you are learning a language for the first time you are not expected to speak it fluently. Never stop your learning process just because you made some mistakes, as this is the only way one learns, so go ahead, learn and have good fun while doing so and best of luck.
